Mosque's IT Centre To Be Operational Tomorrow

SRI AMAN: The Bandar Sri Aman Mosque's K-Masjid Information Technolgy Centre will be fully operational tomorrow.

   Project management officer Awang Maherib Awang Anie said the project, which was under the Ministry of Science and Innovation (MOSTI), was an initiative by Batang Lupar MP Datuk Rohani Abul Karim.

   "We, at the Batang Lupar parliamentary constituency, would like to thank her (Rohani) fro her effort as this will help in producing more IT-savvy people from this constituency," he said.

   He added that apart from turning the Mosque into an IT-based knowledge centre, they were also focusing on more IT usage in community programmes while performing as a platform for online welfare activities.

   He elaborated that the centre would also host multimedia resource for religious seminars, prayer times besides acting as an income generator.

   The centre will operate on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday from 9.30am to 12.30pm and 2pm to 6pm.

   "We will charge a minimum of 70 per cent less than the market price as we want the people of Sri Aman to embrace ICT," he said.

   The centre will also provide courses on Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, Publisher, Facebook usage, YouTube, blog, email, basic computer management, and others.

   The membership for K-Masjid is devided into three categories; normal member (open to all individuals), community member (government/private employees and association members), and permanent member (only for K-Masjid community member).
